How to filter lists

Reports - how to filter lists

It is important to understand that what you see on-screen is what you will have built into the report, this note will show you how to filter a list to fit the criteria you want.

The example relates to a report from the recommendation list within an individual farmer's details but the method is exactly the same elsewhere in EnCompass.

The easiest way to filter a list is to use the right-button on your mouse to call up the "right-click menu" or it is sometimes called the "context menu".  In the example below I have placed the cursor over "Grass" and right-clicked on the mouse.

Now you can use several features:

Filter by selection - select this and the list will return all "Grass" recommendations
[Enter filter text.] - type in the first few letters of the name/description you are looking for and hit return to filter down to all recommendations containing the input, e.g. "Aut" would provide the "Autumn Sown" crops
Filter Excluding Selection - select this and all recommendations except for "Grass" will be shown
Remove filter - choose this once you want to view a full list again.

The other features you can experiment with or will crop up in another TotW.

To complete the example, I chose to filter for "Grass" and have previewed the spreading summary.

Highlighting a selection of recommendations will not work, the report will still contain all the recommendations on view.

To recap, the filter from the context panel will work on all screens - e.g. the Farmer List, a Field List or the Template List.
