Nitram plus
Nitram plus®
One proven system, three simple steps to your Blueprint for Growth...
- Choose Nitram®, the most reliable source of N for the farm
- Apply Sulphur to improve the efficiency of N uptake and therefore yield
and quality
- Use the N-Min® & N-Calc service to optimise rate and timing
Producing more - Impacting less
This is the challenge to farmers outlined by NFU's Peter Kendall. Increasing per hectare production and reducing environmental impact are completely compatible. New initiatives like the Campaign for the Farmed Environment will increase the focus on resource management and in turn professional nutrient use. The right combination of GrowHow products and services will help achieve this goal.
The GrowHow Solution - Nitram® plus
GrowHow Nitram, DoubleTop, N-Min & N-Calc are an unbeatable combination for premium British cereal growers. Precision farming is not just about GPS and mapping - the right combination of products and services will help British farmers respond to the challenge of producing more and impacting less.
Maximise your profit and minimise the risks
However, use the wrong product, apply it at the incorrect rate or time and there is a strong risk that you could pay a penalty in crop yield or quality which means reduced profit. Therefore, it makes sense to evaluate these risks and use the latest R&D work to minimise them where ever possible.
So, what are the most common quetions when making fertiliser nutrient decisions and what are the best options for British farming?
Which Nitrogen product is best for me?
Nitram, it's more reliable than urea.
Why : Ammonium Nitrate is more reliable than urea with N losses of only 3%. In cereals, the average N losses from urea were 22%, but the huge range of between 2% right up to 43% loss really shows how unpredictable urea performance can be. Using urea is clearly a much riskier option.
From the DEFRA 3 year investigation:
"One of the most significant problems of urea based fertilisers is their unreliability. Rainfall is a significant factor controlling ammonia emissions and is never likely to be easily predicted. Nitrogen recommendations for urea are likely to be much less precise."
Nitram®
34.5%N
. Proved to be the most predictable source of N
. Lower N losses on application
. Higher yields and protein at 'Standard' N rates
. Releases less ammonia than urea
. Greater bulk density than urea
Should I use a sulphur containing fertiliser?
Yes, it improves yield and quality.
Why:
Sulphur is an essential building block for protein. It improves the efficiency of N uptake and therefore increases yield and improves quality. An added bonus of improved efficiency of N use is less leaching and losses to the environment. Sulphur deposition from the air is now at its lowest ever level. Not using a sulphur-containing fertiliser can have a great impact on yield - up to 15% in cereals and 40% in oilseed rape.
DoubleTop® 27% N (30SO3)
. Sulphur increases N use efficiency
. Sulphur will increase yields
. Sulphur will increase milling wheat quality
. A high quality true granular product
. Contains ammonium sulphate for rapid uptake
. Part of a GrowHow flexible range of N : S products
Professional growers cannot afford to ignore the benefits of using a Sulphur containing fertiliser like DoubleTop alongside Nitram. The current research shows that the minimum 'sulphur' benefit for a cereal grower is around £22/ha.Ken Bowler - Marketing Manager, GrowHow UK
How much N should I apply and when?
Use N-Min® & N-Calc to optimise rate and timing.
Why: Over application wastes valuable nutrient, reduces profit and impacts on yield, quality and the environment. GrowHow N-Min & N-Calc service provides a proven solution. N-Min measures the total amount of N that becomes available from the soil and N-Calc gives the optimum N rate for both cereals and OSR. This service has been developed with over 20 years of both company and independent R&D and is recognised and annually reviewed by ADAS.
So, what are the most common questions when making fertiliser nutrient decisions and what are the best options available for British farming?
GrowHow N-Min® & N-Calc
. Measures both Soil Mineral Nitrogen (SMN) and Additionally Available Nitrogen (AAN)
. Provides data on total soil N availability to your crops
. Gives proven recommendations to achieve yield and quality potential
. Minimises the environmental impact of crop production
. Takes out the guesswork from organic manures
. The most accurate N rate and timing service availablellenge rea
