Practical service
N-Min & N-Calc is provided through FACTS qualified GrowHow Advisers and Fieldsmen as part of the GrowHow Advice service. Advisers and Fieldsmen are trained to interpret the results and advise on the best application timings. For example adjustments may be needed to take account of local conditions, such as shallow or very stony soils, or make adjustments to the economic optimum.
Select the fields to be sampled from:
- one of each soil type and same previous cropping
- one of each soil type which has had an organic manure applied in the last 24 months.
Soil samples only need to be taken down to 30cm, unless FYM has been applied in last 24 months when the cores must be down to 60cm. This is to ensure that full account is taken of the N available from manure further down the profile.
The sampler will take a representative sample and courier it to the lab.
In up to 14 days, due to the incubation process, the results will be available. The agronomist will then enter the results into N-Calc along with crop type, crop N, anticipated yield and soil type details.
Your agronomist may then provide you with a fertiliser Nitrogen plan for the following season based on the optimum amount of Nitrogen required for each crop.
"Common sense just to put the fertiliser on where it's needed." - Philip Bell
