EnCompass Tip of the Week - Copy application lines

In the second year of EnCompass it will take a lot less time to complete recommendations.  One way to speed the work up is to use the Copy function.

To highlight a message that appears to confirm that everything has been copied over:

In this case, where the two numbers are the same, all is well.

An "application" is one of the recommendation lines - crop, fertiliser, manure or adjustment.

If some of the applications do not copy over the first place to look for trouble are the modifiable manures & fertilisers and adjustments.

In EnCompass v6 modifiable products could be changed by subsequent users.  When copying the database looks for the modifiable product and uses the analysis associated with it, if it is different from the original then the message will say an application has not copied over.

For example: "Summer Fed Conc*" as a modifiable was later changed to a Sugar Beet fertiliser analysis.  This would create a very strange grazing recommendation.

In EnCompass v7 this will not be a problem as all modifiable fertilisers and manures are copied over from the list held directly with the farmer.  The modifiable line can be used in the new recommendation.

Once you changed the season it will not be available to add another line or put into a different recommendation without going back to farmer screen and entering the product again for the new season.

Nor can a line with a standard grade be amended to a modifiable grade.  The line has to be removed and a new line entered for the modifiable.
