About Fertilisers

Feeding the crops that feed the nation

Fertilisers enable farmers to produce more food from each
hectare of farmed land; helping British farmers feed the nation
and the world.

Since the end of World War II, in affluent parts of the world at least, food has been plentiful and cheap as well as increasingly varied.

However, food security is taking centre stage once again. For the first time in decades the number of people in the world facing food shortages is growing.

Rising populations and increasing affluence in countries like China and India are fuelling demand.

At the same time climate change is adding pressure to the mix. Changing temperatures, drought and floods have already reduced food production and continue to be a real threat for the future.

The World Bank has called for more aid to provide food, but this is just a stop-gap solution. Longer term, only improvements in the way science and technology, including the
way fertilisers are manufactured and used on farm, can provide sustainable solutions.

Wherever and however food is produced there will be an impact on the environment. As
manufacturers, distributors and farmers it is our job to minimise that impact at the same time as producing food to feed the world.

GrowHow UK, our distributor partners and farmer customers are part of the solution because:

  • Our true granular compound fertilisers increase yields and improve crop quality
  • We invest in Advice and Services to help farmers use fertilisers at optimum levels so
that they can apply only what the crop needs to optimise crop yield and quality
  • We keep up-to-date with the latest research findings and operate our own Research and Development programme to question accepted practice and improve crop agronomy
