Advice Arable Seminar
"Agriculture is entering an exciting & volatile era
Food shortages, weather & outside influences (currency & oil) having impact
Market will continue to develop for the non food sector (fuels)
Globally, little or no additional land to farm
Agriculture will have demands upon it"
Professor John Nix
2007
This year's seminar set the scene for the start of a groundbreaking Nitrogen sales season.
With a backdrop of "Food" being the hot news topic - food shortages, volatile and escalating food prices, strategic land purchasing, the biofuel debate, farmer strikes, export taxes & tariffs - in the popular press. The agricultural sector is now seen as an exciting place to be.
Delegates from their distributor customers and farmer groups heard how GrowHow UK Limited is positioned to meet the needs of farmers and its customers. From a secure UK manufacturing base GrowHow will supply fertiliser and innovative advice & services.
GrowHow understands its responsibility to provide leadership in the supply of products, understand legislation and promote best practises that care for the environment.
As part of that the seminar focused on "Nutrient Management" to enable the delegates to provide the best fertiliser advice to their farmer customers.

Mark Berrisford-Smith, Senior Economist, HSBC
HSBC Bank policy prevented the publication of the slides used in a very interesting and thought provoking presentation.
In his talk Mark used a word that was new to many of the delegates - Agflation: An increase in the price of food that occurs as a result of increased demand from human consumption and use as an alternative energy resource. Reuters, news agency, have a page dedicated to the subject. Click HERE to track the impact with the stories, maps and graphs.
